[Satellite Today 11-18-08] Europe Media Port (EMP) is providing teleport services to Gateway Communications in Africa, EMP announced Nov. 18.
EMP, a Cyprus-based global provider of transmissions services, is providing services from its Greek teleport to Gateway for its newly launched operations on AfricaSat-1 into Africa. EMP is furnishing IP transit and uplink and downlink for IP services to and from Africa, enabling Gateway to best leverage its multiple C-band transponders on the satellite.
Gateway will use capacity to further develop the pan-African service provider's position in the provision of high-quality, secure and reliable voice, data and Internet access to 1,200 corporate customers throughout 40 countries.
“Our commitment to adding more relevant services together with more bandwidth is an integral element of our growth strategy,” Peter Gbedemah, CEO of Gateway, said in a statement. “Working with EMP and Measat’s AfricaSat-1 we are able to reach our goals and provide connectivity to our clients across the continent.”
